Summary of Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Phnom Penh at Techno Int’l Airport (KTI)

Day 2: Orientation to Phnom Penh with an architecture tour by cyclo and visit to the Royal Palace

Day 3: Learn about modern Cambodia by visiting a local pagoda, discussions with local experts and a visit to the Toul Tom Pong (Russian) market

Day 4: Explore the legacy of the Khmer Rouge through visits to Choeung Ek and Toul Sleng; sunset boat excursion and dinner on the Mekong

Day 5: Exploration of Phnom Penh on your own—choose your own adventure!

Days 6 and 7: Depart for Prey Veng Province to learn about village life and how families earn their livelihood, including agriculture and small home business visits.

Day 8: Transit to Siem Reap (with a stop at an insect market) with sunset at the temple of Phnom Bakheng

Day 9: Visit 9th to early 12th century Angkor era temples, including Banteay Srey. Buffet dinner with traditional dancing.

Day 10: Sunrise at Angkor Wat, a tour of a silk farm, free time in the afternoon.

Day 11: Visit to Bayon era temples (late 12th century), a dinner of local specialties with a discussion with a human rights worker

Day 12: Morning visit to a floating village, freetime in the afternoon prior to departures

producers of local specialties

 

Level of physical activity: Participants should be prepared to walk up to 2 miles in a day, sometimes with uneven terrain and/or stairs
